The Salient Voyage

Sarah Longfield

When most people, myself included, think of incredible guitarists, very few women spring to mind. Not out of contempt for women or any kind of self diluted virility, but from the lack of exposure to decent female guitarists.

Thanks in part to the Internet, and even more so, the amazingly talented female musicians coming through, like Sarah Longfield, that will all come to pass.

This majestic piece of music, accompanied by a splendidly candid video from Sarah Longfield, demonstrates just how truly easy it can be for anyone to fall in love with female guitarists.

As much as I love metal, I tend not to post much of the genre here, as honestly, if I posted the cutting edge death metal I love, good hearted religious folks would have yet another reason to want me institutionalized. However, this piece of music, I found so incredible, it'd be a travesty not to share it with you all.

Love Track

J.Walker

Many modern artists, well likely their producers, think they've been given a noble mission from the very source code itself.

They set out to make sure the album they produce can break your windows by having a bass that just BOOMS!

The fine line between a booming bass that works, and one that just booms a little too loudly, I find very thin. If the bass doesn't fit with the overall vibe the rest of the album has going on, or I find it too heavy and am not in the mood to tolerate it, I'll skip entire albums.

This beaut, titled Love Track, by J.Walker, rides the tube of balance only stylish surfers have experienced. It sets a great example of where that line, between being too heavy and just right, actually sits.

If you're into hip-hop, you should definitely check out this album, Ambitions of a Writer. It has some chiller tunes worth every moment. Enjoy.

Kush

Dizzy Gillespie

Growing up I was that weird kid in high school. Not that weird kid, but the weird kid that just had a passion for things he loved and didn't give a toot what others thought.

When it came to music, people my age were branching out. Experimenting with new sounds they'd inevitably fall in love with. All kinds of various genres, such as hip-hop for example. Meanwhile I was neurally deep into jazz.

Sweet, smooth, candylucious jazz. Not any old jazz though, I was heavily into the highest quality jazz players, particularly trumpet wielders. Yessir, Dizzy Gillespie was the man.

I must have spent every bit of my pocket money on Dizzy Gillespie records. So much so that by the time I was just 14 years old, I'd already amassed quite the collection of his CDs. Vague memories are jabbing me that I even had an old cassette or two.

Skip forward 15 or so years, where in the better part of those years I'd listened to more from the metal genre, than all other genres, combined. Then randomly, completely out of the blue, I come across a track named Kush by ol' Dizzy.

Kush being one of my favorite words for the glorious delight that cannabis brings you. You might smoke old skanky cannabis, but I'll take that top shelf, tucked away, finesse Kush you've got hidden back there please pal! So it should come as no surprise that I had to sample the aptly named track.

And oh boy, what a sheer delight! How I'd never heard this track or album before still blows my mind.

Go ahead, give it a an ol' spin. Better yet, get Dizzy with it!

Dunfiato

Redman

Q.U.E.E.N.

Janelle Monae
Feat. Erykah Badu

I'm a sucker for quality chicks with majestic vocals, especially when the track has a bumpin' booty beat. Yeah, boo-tahy!

Q.U.E.E.N. blends equal parts, funk, hip-hop, pop and r&b.

Many Women

Main Ingredient

When it comes to sexy tenor saxophones, let me put it simply for you. They do it for me.

Like if I go into a doctor surgery for a prostate exam, that doctor better throw on some Main Ingredient before he goes digging about my ingredients.

The Sky Is Crying

Gary B B Coleman

Reminiscent of something you'd hear as an intro to a show like The Sopranos or The Wire, this song encapsulates the human experience.
